Brownie Wrona

HQ Co. and then F Co. on Iwo Jima

Brownie Wrona was known by his buddies as "Muscles" Wrona. He is shown on the header picture, second from the right on the lefthand picture. Check out the slide show picture of Brownie holding Arti Strand and another Marine in his arms and Leon Padelskas on his back at the same time! Brownie was in the HQ Company for Roi Namur, Saipan, Tinian and then moved to F Co. for the invasion of Iwo Jima.

Harold Franck, also of the HQ Company, told me that Brownie is a "real fighting Marine" I think this is the highest honor one Marine can call another.

Brownie was on Roi-Namur check his description of the big explosion in the 2nd Battalions area of operations on the History of the 24th page.

Brownie was wounded on Roi Namur, and was seriously wounded by a mortar shell on Iwo Jima.

After the war in 1972 Brownie opened "Brownie Wrona's Gymnastic Academny" his gymnastics complex served over 400 boys and girls. in 1987 Brownie was inducted into the Beaver County Hall of Fame.
